Cons:

Nature sounds can be distracting.

Free resources are limited in Calm compared to their competitors.

The sleep stories, in particular the kids sleep stories, can be too long.

You can find some of the same meditations on YouTube for free.

Their sleep radio and music aren’t as extensive as their competitors.

What people are saying:

Many subscribers have given calm mixed reviews.

There have been complaints in the past about Calm’s customer service and billing practices. Some people had problems contacting Customer Service to cancel, claiming there is no option to cancel. And again, after your free trial is up you are billed automatically. Also, Calm may not remind you when your free trial expires.

Other users say it is worth the free trial and purchase, claiming it has made a difference in sleep and anxiety levels. The price of $69 annually is affordable and worth it, and they send a coupon as well so you’re only paying about $41 a year. If you want to pay by month it winds up being $5.83 a month. I think that’s very affordable.

It is recommended to get the paid version from Calm because the free version of the app is not the best. With the paid version you get meditation, sleep stories, and mind exercises. You have the option of guided and unguided meditations. New meditations are added constantly.

What’s the competition like?

Headspace is another app that is similar to Calm. It’s really a personal preference which one you choose. You might want to try both and see which one you like best.

In the end Calm is a better investment than some of its competitors.

Hope this helps you!
